Description
Purchased in Dakar, Senegal in 1973, this hand-sewn
wall hanging depicts the history of Senegal,
one of the key ports of slave trade. Present-day
and extinct animals, fish and daily tools are
colorfully depicted. The tree of life, the Baobab,
plays an important role in survival despite
depictions of torture and the slave trade. Beautiful
and humbling.
