Each year, Self-Help International welcomes nearly 200 Cedar Valley residents to gather with their friends for an evening of entertainment. The funds raised from this event are used to alleviate hunger and to support entrepreneurial efforts that “help people help themselves.”
This year’s gala will be held Thursday, April 20th at 6pm at the Wartburg College Ballroom in Waverly. To make this event a success, we need the support of charitably-minded organizations like yours. Following is a list of sponsorship levels and a brief description of the difference your support makes to people who are struggling to improve the lives of their families:
Clean Water: Your $5,000 sponsorship will bring clean, safe water to 4 more rural villages in Nicaragua, ensuring that 600 families can lead healthier, more productive lives.
Empowering Women: Your $2,500 sponsorship will provide 10 aspiring women entrepreneurs with an initial loan to start their dream businesses, along with education classes in financial literacy and business planning to ensure they are set up for success. With her profits, each mother will be able to better feed, clothe, and educate her children.
Improving Agriculture: Your $1,000 sponsorship will empower 5 farmers around the world with the training and input loans they need to maximize yields and grow more and better food for their families and their communities.
Ending Malnutrition: Your $500 sponsorship will feed 18 children in Ghana a healthy daily breakfast this semester to ensure they get the protein their developing brains need, and can start each school day hunger-free and ready to learn.
Teen Girls: Your $250 sponsorship will sponsor a workshop to teach essential reading and writing skills to teen girls to help them excel in school and feel confident on junior and senior high school qualifying exams and stay in school.

1. Clean Water – Presenting Sponsor – $5,000
Your sponsorship of $5,000 will bring clean water to 5 more rural villages in Nicaragua, ensuring that 600 families can lead
healthier, more productive lives. Sponsorship includes (please note some benefits are time-limited):

2. Empowering Women – $2,500
Your $2,500 sponsorship will provide 10 aspiring women entrepreneurs with an initial loan to start their dream businesses,
along with education classes in financial literacy and business planning which will support their success. When a mother
is empowered, she can better feed, clothe, and educate her children. For every $1 a mother earns, she invests 90% of it
back into her family (whereas men invest 40%). Sponsorship includes:
